Adoption

  • Adoption Assistance Agency

    Faith-based nonprofit licensed by New Mexico CYFD for independent and agency adoptions. For expectant parents: pregnancy counseling, birthing support, housing options and a caseworker available 24/7, confidentially and without pressure; also counseling and therapy.

  • All Faiths Adoption Services

    Free counseling for anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy, including help choosing an adoptive family (call or text 505-313-1132), and a full range of services for families hoping to adopt.

  • New Mexico CYFD — Foster Care & Adoption

    Statewide

    Adopting a child from New Mexico foster care through the Children, Youth and Families Department: licensed resource families can foster and then adopt children legally freed for adoption, with adoption subsidies for children with special needs.

  • CPLC New Mexico (formerly HELP New Mexico) — Early Childhood Development

    Full-day, year-round Early Head Start for low-income families with children from birth to 3, Head Start for ages 3–5, and Migrant & Seasonal Head Start for children 0–5 of agricultural working families, with health, nutrition and family support.

  • La Clinica de Familia — Early Head Start

    Free Early Head Start for eligible low-income families with children from birth to 3 and pregnant women living within Las Cruces city limits and the Las Cruces Public Schools district: centre-based classes, weekly home visits, and home visits for expectant moms. Fathers and parents of children with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

  • Youth Development Inc. (YDI) — Head Start & Early Head Start

    Albuquerque-area Early Head Start (including pregnancy and home-visiting services) and Head Start early care and education, plus family development programs.

Churches / Baby Closets

  • High Desert Women's Center (formerly Turning Point of Las Cruces)

    Free pregnancy tests, ultrasounds and STD testing in Las Cruces, plus parenting classes online and in person. Clients earn credits in classes to redeem in the Baby Boutique (items from birth through toddler years, while supplies last); men are welcome in classes too.

    Free pregnancy and STI tests, options information, and parenting and dads' classes in Clovis and Portales (1412 S Ave O, Suite A, 575-226-8378). Its baby boutique helps with car seats, cribs, diapers, wipes and clothes; take classes to earn while you learn.

    Free job help at the Albuquerque Opportunity Center: GoodJobs connects job seekers with employers, GoodSkills offers job-readiness and life-skills classes, plus youth employment help and job training.

  • New Mexico Workforce Connection Centers

    Statewide

    Free job-search, training and placement help from the NM Department of Workforce Solutions at Workforce Connection offices across the state (Albuquerque, Las Cruces and other cities), plus online job search and job fairs. Addresses and phone numbers are on the Office Locations page.

Potential Financial Assistance

  • Catholic Charities (Archdiocese of Santa Fe) — Rental & Utility Assistance

    Emergency rental assistance for rent arrears, move-in costs and utilities; apply through the site. Its One-Time Assistance Program and eviction-prevention help come by referral from an approved partner agency that is working with you. Assistance depends on available funds.

  • The Salvation Army — Southwest Division (New Mexico)

    Statewide

    Emergency help with rent, mortgage and utility bills from the Salvation Army's Southwest Division, which covers Arizona, New Mexico and southern Nevada; local teams assess each family's needs.

Food Programs

  • St. Felix Pantry

    Food pantry open to all New Mexico residents (bring proof of New Mexico residency each visit), Thursday–Saturday 9 am–noon, with referral services and a new diaper pantry for local families.

  • Roadrunner Food Bank — Find Food

    Statewide

    New Mexico's largest food bank: a find-food page listing partner pantries and one-time or temporary distributions (updated several times a month), plus mobile food pantries and a food pantry and community resource centre.

Health Assistance

  • First Choice Community Healthcare

    Community health centre in the Albuquerque region (including Edgewood and Los Lunas): primary care, women's health and pregnancy care, behavioral health and school-based clinics, with a sliding fee discount program and help with coverage. TTY: 800-659-8331.

  • La Familia Health (La Familia Medical Center)

    Santa Fe community health centre since 1972: medical, dental and behavioral health care for all ages, including women's and prenatal care and pediatrics. Care for everyone regardless of insurance, with a sliding fee scale and help applying for Medicaid; bilingual English/Spanish staff.

  • New Mexico Turquoise Care (Medicaid)

    Statewide

    New Mexico's Medicaid program, including coverage for children and pregnant women, run by the Health Care Authority through Turquoise Care health plans. Apply at yes.nm.gov or call 1-800-283-4465.

  • Nurse-Family Partnership — New Mexico

    Statewide

    A registered nurse visits expectant parents at home during pregnancy and the child's first years, about two and a half years in all. New Mexico programs include Cariño NFP, Youth Development Inc. (YDI) and NFP New Mexico. Nurse-Family Partnership is now run by Changent.

    Albuquerque homelessness services: shelter beds reserved through the intake line (505-344-4340, 1–3 am and 9 am–3 pm), respite care by referral, and subsidized housing programs with case management for individuals and families.

  • PB&J Family Services — Parenting & Home Visiting

    Albuquerque family services for 50 years: a 16-week Nurturing Parenting Program for families with children 0–5 (in home and in groups), NM Home Visiting for families from pregnancy to age 5 in Bernalillo and Sandoval counties, the FIT early-intervention program, and parenting programs for incarcerated parents.
